In hot process gas filtration, the gas stream is often heavily laden with solids which must be removed or recovered. For these gas cleaning applications at higher temperatures between 250 and 1000 °C hot gas filter units with special-designed hot gas filter elements are installed. The gas entry process to the collector is similar to the dry bag reverse jet collector differing in that the air to cloth ratios are normally reduced dependant on process. The ceramic elements are moulded from inorganically-bound fire resistant ceramic fibres capable of with standing high temperatures and corrosive environments.. Their 90% porosity and fine pore size distribution give outstanding filtration efficiency with a low temperature drop. They are ideally suited to any application involving high temperature gases- waste incineration, furnaces, sewage sludge , bio-mass power, gasification and smelting. They also eliminate the need for oversized filtration and wasted energy merely to reduce the gas temperature by re-circulatory dilution or eradicate the need for a independent gas cooler prior to filtration.
